Participating Breweries / Cideries / Meaderies

Many, though not all, of the products at BrewFest in the Park have been brewed using organic ingredients. In the United States, an organic product is always considered truly organic when the product bears the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s official USDA Certified Organic seal; and the product has been certified organic by an accredited organic certifying agency; and the product contains 95% or more organic ingredients.

Just because a product is labeled “organic” doesn’t necessarily mean it meets USDA organic standards; the only way to know for sure is to look for the USDA Organic Seal, and moreover, the statement “Certified Organic by [Certifiers Name]” on the label under the Handler Information. Likewise, some products can still be made with organic ingredients but not qualify for the USDA seal nor carry the term “certified organic.” There is an exception from organic certification for organizations that sell less than $5,000 worth of organic products annually. Most of the products at this festival fall into this category.

Our participants have indicated the organic category they believe their product falls under; we have trusted them to provide us with information to the best of their knowledge. Organic claims are not verifiable without being certified by an organization. Cheers!

Brewed in collaboration with Friends of the Columbia River Gorge, this citrus forward West Coast style IPA was brewed with organic 2-Row and Munich malts. This is a wonderful IPA to share with your friends while benefitting the splendor of the Columbia Gorge. 6.1% ABV, 65 IBU, Vegan

Aslan Brewing Co. *USDA Certified | @AslanBrewing

Batch 15 IPA | Certified Organic (95% and up)

This hazy, juicy IPA is hopped heavily with Citra and Simcoe, then paired with choice American wheat and 2-Row barley. Intentionally unfiltered to spotlight the rawness of organic hops, this IPA is less bitter but more flavorful and balanced than most West Coast versions. 6.7% ABV, 70 IBU, Vegan

Dawn Patrol Pacific Ale | Certified Organic (95% and up)

This beer is mild yet complex in its delivery. The hop presence is noticed by subtle flavors of pineapples that meld beautifully with the slightly spicy and minty character derived from the use of rye malt. A somewhat recently pioneered style, this Pacific Ale is delivered unfiltered to accentuate its fresh farm to glass, unprocessed, organic qualities. 5.4% ABV, 10 IBU, Vegan

Archer’s Belgian Wit | Made with Organic Ingredients (70-94%)

Inspired by friendship, this Belgian style Witbier forgoes the traditional orange peel and coriander additions for plants found in Oregon. Featuring chamomile, yarrow, heather, and black peppercorns, this is Astoria Brewing’s interpretation of Archer’s Wit. 5.4% ABV, 22 IBU, Vegan

Organic Ichiban IPA | Organic (95% and up)

This is an organic take on Astoria’s flagship Ichiban IPA. Single hopped with organic Citra, this beer packs a huge grapefruit flavor and aroma that is rounded out with a lightly sweet malt body and dry finish. 6.8% ABV, 64 IBU, Vegan

Hard Blackberry Cider | Not Organic

Oregon has a state flag, song, flower, and this is Atlas’ nomination for a state cider. A deep hue of purple fills the glass as they took zero short-cuts with this fine blend of blackberries and elderberries. The tartness of the blackberries is rounded out by the complex characteristics of the elderberries. Filled with tannins, the cider leaves a delightful dry and rich finish. Pineapple Mango Cider | Not Organic

Warning: You will become spellbound with this siren’s irresistible blend of tropical pineapple and mango. The tart pineapple is skillfully balanced with the mangos’ sweetness and flavor. And although it looks like a sweet treat, this cider features an off dry but fruit forward profile that showcases the aromas and flavors of these distinctive fruits that is just right. Kermit the Hop Double IPA | Certified Organic (95% and up)

It isn’t always easy being green. Sexy organic hops are hard to come by. This year, Bison scored hella’ organic Simcoe and finally brewed its very first Double IPA. With over three lbs. of hops per barrel, Kermit The Hop is bright, citrusy and tongue-tinglingly bitter. Resinous pine coats the tongue and reluctantly gives way to grapefruit and a grassy bitterness that lingers at the back of the tongue for days. For this Drink Local Lager, the Cascade Lakes brewers chose to brew a Vienna style lager. This amber colored beer exhibits rich, toasted malt aromas and a smooth malt flavor, balanced with German Tettnang hops. Cheers to organic beers! 5.7% ABV, 10 IBU

Nine Eyes IPA | Made with Organic Ingredients (70-94%)

This is an organic version of the brewery’s flagship IPA, which begins with a blend of five grains and generous amounts of Galena, Chinook and Cascade hops in the boil. It is then dry hopped with Equinox and Azacca for a traditional yet tropical beer. Nine Eyes is named for the Pacific Lamprey eels that are indigenous to Oregon City’s Willamette Falls and harvested each year as part of a Native American ritual. 6.6% ABV, 68 IBU

Hop Lion IPA | Made with Organic Ingredients (70-94%)

The cool kids (Mosaic, Citra) come to mingle with the old school crew (Centennial, Cascade, and Simcoe), pulling the qualities and characteristics that shine from each of these hops to the foreground. An emphasis was placed on later addition and dry hops, making this IPA less on the bitter side and punching more aroma out to the front. It’s like a hop slap for your nose and taste buds. The use of organic Imperial yeast instead of the Abbey sets the beer apart from other IPAs in the brewery’s repertoire, and provides a clean, subtle fruit, and biscuit undertones, while a simple and supportive grain bill provides a solid base for the hops to shine. 6.7% ABV, 65 IBU, Vegan

The brewers stopped just short of calling this a “Session IPA” at 5.5% ABV, but hop-philes and hop-curious alike can enjoy more than one. This IPA has an assertive yet rounded bitterness level due to the hop bursting technique utilized during the brewing process. A blend of Falconer’s Flight, Zythos, Palisades and ORGANIC Cascade hops are used late in the boil and for heavy dry hopping, creating a complex hoppy flavor and aroma without fatiguing the palate with excessive bitterness. 5.5% ABV, 62 IBU, Vegan

Knockback Organic Mexican Amber Lager | Organic (95% and up)

This is a style originally brewed in Vienna and brought to Mexico by Austrian brewers. Natian used the same Mexican lager yeast strain to produce the Knockback, which comes in at a very sessionable 4.4% ABV. With organic ingredients and greater freshness, depth of flavor and body than modern examples, this slightly malt-forward but extremely drinkable beer pairs well with almost any food. 4.4% ABV, 18 IBU, Vegan

Pinkus Organic Ur-Pils | Certified Organic (95% and up)

Pinkus Ur Pils is brewed with organic malt and hops and is free of any chemical fertilizers or pesticides.
